Do you own a golf cart?  If so, then you will want to make sure that you have it covered properly with its own golf cart policy.  Davis & Massey Insurance, as your local independent insurance agency, can help you find coverage that fits your needs.

A golf cart policy typically includes a few basic coverages:

Property Damage- This coverage may help pay to repair damage to another person's property if you are deemed responsible.

Bodily Injury- This coverage may help pay towards medical bills incurred by someone if you cause an accident that injures them.

Collision Coverage- This particular coverage may help pay to repair your golf cart if you collide with another object.

Comprehensive Coverage- If your golf cart is stolen or damaged by something (other than collision) this coverage may help to repair the damage.

Medical Payments- This coverage may help to pay if you are injured as a result of a golf cart incident.

Don’t assume that your Home Insurance policy extends coverage to your golf cart.  The coverage is so limited, it is basically non-existent.  It is best to get a separate policy (or it can sometimes be added to an Auto Insurance policy) for your golf cart.

Helpful little snidbits:

·         Carve or write a number (or something to indentify it) in a conspicuous place on your golf cart.  Many have no serial number.

·         A basic Golf Cart policy can be as low as around $100 per year.  Although, a basic or stripped down policy is usually not recommended.

·         Consider getting a special key made for your golf cart.  Many have a generic key making it easier to be stolen.

·         Wash or rinse your golf cart frequently – just be careful around the dash and electronics.
